We are excited to announce a new environmental project that will bring lasting benefits to communities in Northern Iraq.
With support from SlovakAid, a modern wastewater treatment plant will be built in the new Opera District of Duhok.
Project period: 3 Oct 2025 to 30 Sep 2026
Why is this important?
Northern Iraq is highly vulnerable to drought and climate change. In many areas, wastewater is discharged directly into nature, polluting rivers and harming public health.
Thanks to innovative Slovak technology, this project will:
• Serve around 12,000 residents
• Improve hygiene and protect vital water sources
• Train local workers for long-term, sustainable operation
Together, we are working toward a cleaner environment, improved public health, and stronger climate resilience for the region.
