Both, Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, have faced various water challenges recently. The issue includes water shortage, disrupted infrastructure of the entire state due to many reasons, also drought due to lack of rainfall and global warming, pollution of water resources. Many different areas in Iraq have very limited access to clean drinking water, which has an impact on the living conditions of host and displaced communities, which are very poor, especially during the summer months. In addition, the country faces problems related to the regulation of river flows and the resolution of conflicts over water resources with neighboring countries. That is why our humanitarian organization is dedicated to the realization of wells and the securing of water sources. The project in 2023 – 2024, named “Support for the development of Doghat and Darkar villages through the provision of sustainable sources of drinking water and training” is implemented. Thanks go to financial support from the official development aid program of Slovakia, SlovakAid and our partner, Slovak Catholic Charity.
